It’s been a busy start to the year here at Diversified UK, we’ve successfully seen through 8 trade shows and 3 award nights in 6 months! These included Casual Dining (Feb), Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards (Feb), The British Tourism & Travel Show (March), The British Coach Tourism Awards (March), Natural & Organic Products Europe (April), Natural & Organic Awards Europe (April), Ocean Business (April), Accountex (May), GEO Business (May), Commercial Kitchen (June) and SITS – The Service Desk & IT Support Show (June) – phew!
With Casual Dining raising the bar yet again with a 9% increase in attendees, the 21st edition of Natural & Organic Products Europe enjoying glowing testimonials from the industry, and Accountex quoted as the ‘best Accountex yet’ – we’ve got plenty of things to feel chuffed about.

Casual Dining returned to the Business Design Centre in Islington, on 22-23 February, to showcase the best new products, solutions, insights, and innovations of the year. The multi-award winning event enjoyed its fourth year of significant growth, raising the bar yet again to serve up 4,785 unique attendees, with over £736m annual spending power, to its 200 exhibitors.
Significantly, the strong footfall has been backed by glowing testimonials from across the show floor. Fantastic, excellent, informative, busy, successful, unmissable, and essential – are just some of the words attendees have used to describe the show so far.
“We don’t have to fly across the Atlantic to find the latest industry innovations under one roof any more – Casual Dining has brought all that and more to the UK,” says Karen Forrester, CEO of TGI Friday’s UK.
Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards
The UK’s best casual dining operators were revealed at the Casual Dining Restaurant & Pub Awards 2017. wagamama, Las Iguanas, ASK Italian, The Breakfast Club, Peach Pub Company, and Levi Roots all took home awards. While wagamama’s chief executive David Campbell was also named ‘Trailblazer of the year’. The 2017 winners were presented their awards by Matt Dawson MBE at a prestigious ceremony at the Marriot London Grosvenor Square, following the first day of the Casual Dining show.
Over 400 industry professionals – including senior representatives from Casual Dining Group, Living Ventures, Las Iguanas, Nando’s, Bill’s Restaurants, Marston’s, The New World Trading Co, Revolution Bars Group, Mitchells & Butlers, PizzaExpress, Carluccio’s, Prezzo, MEATliquor, Giggling Squid, Cabana, and The Breakfast Club – were in attendance to recognise and celebrate the standout brands of the year across the multi-billion pound casual dining sector.
British Tourism & Travel Show
From coastal retreats to heritage historic houses and big city attractions, this year’s British Tourism & Travel Show featured the best of what the British Isles has to offer. Highlights included a revamped Historic Houses and Gardens area, the new Accessibility Clinic, and returning regional pavilions from Experience Scotland; Tourism South East; Visit Wales; and Tourism Ireland – each offering a wealth of new packages, ideas and inspiration for a range of group trips and tours.
The number and quality of visitors in attendance has led many exhibiting companies to already rebook for the next edition in 2018. Among them are Warner Leisure Hotels, Hilton, Visit Liverpool, Encore Tickets, Greatdays Travel Group, Lucketts Travel, Roeville Reservation Software, Norman Allen Group Travel, Knowsley Safari, Devon’s Top Attractions, and Choice Hotels.
The British Coach Tourism Awards
The UK’s best coach tour operators, destinations, visitor attractions, hotels, and tourism industry suppliers, were honoured on the 22 March at the 2017 British Coach Tourism Awards.
The prestigious awards ceremony, which took place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham following the first day of the British Tourism & Travel Show, brought together over 350 industry professionals to recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across the multi-billion pound coach tourism sector.
Natural & Organic Products Europe
Over 700 exhibitors, 70 speakers, and 10,571 attendees from 92 countries – that’s the top line figures from this year’s Natural & Organic Products Europe trade show, which won rave reviews from across the natural and organic world (2-3 April). Confirming its position as the leading European show for natural and organic products (including health, food and beauty), the 2017 event – its 21st edition – attracted its biggest attendance yet to London ExCeL.
“Year after year, the show continues to evolve into an even more essential item in the buyers’ tool kit. Bigger, better and buzzing!” says Tracy Mackenzie, buyer at The Health Store Wholesale.
Natural & Organic Awards Europe 2017
The awards, which celebrate the standout brands and products of the year, were hosted by Natural Products News (in association with the Soil Association) and presented by well-known food and health blogger Madeleine Shaw.
The ‘best new product’ awards were voted for by visitors to the show on Sunday 2 April and then judged by a panel of leading industry experts; including Julian Wright (purchasing director at The Health Store), Andy Derbyshire (buying controller at Tree Of Life), Alan Martin (owner/retailer of Food For Thought Kingston and Guildford), Wendy Atkinson (MD of Modern Herbals), and Shona Wilkinson (technical and corporate nutritionist). The 13 winners were selected from over 320 New Product Showcase entries, in categories covering food, health, beauty and natural living.
